The school is a Church in Wales Voluntary Aided Primary School catering for an enlarged area due to the closure of other local schools. We have the distinction of being the oldest Primary School in Dyfed, the school being founded in 1730 with the financial support of the Rev. David Jones M.A.
We are very proud that in the past few years many of our former pupils have been selected as head boys and girls at Tregib Comprehensive School, Llandeilo before continuing their education at various universities.

Llanfynydd Voluntary Aided Primary School has been an integral part of the community since its inception in 1730. As a church school it has an extremely strong association with the Parish Church and plays an active part with many other local organisations.
Llanfynydd V.A.P School is probably unique in the primary sector, in having its own Governing Body. This enables the Governors to develop even stronger links with the school.
We as a Governing Body are very proud of the school's achievements in educational, cultural and environmental activities. We take an active interest in all aspects of the school and seek to work in close support with the Head teacher and the staff. In unison with the staff we endeavour to create a happy, friendly environment for the children, that promotes constructive learning.
As the vicar and the Chairman of the Governors, I visit the school weekly to take part in the school's daily act of worship. This act of worship helps the Christian ethos of our school. We have a record which we can be proud of and on which we seek to build for the future.
Rev. Phillip Johnes (Chairman of the School Governors)
Dear parent,
If your child is joining us for the first time, a warm welcome to you as parents to Llanfynydd School. We hope this will be the beginning of a happy and successful partnership between us as a school and you as parents. If you have a child here already we are happy to continue the links between us.
Llanfynydd is a happy school. We realise that each child is different and behaves differently, develops differently and learns in different ways. We aim to give each individual the opportunity reach their full potential within a homely atmosphere where all children are encouraged to behave in a mature and responsible way and each child will feel valued.
Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. We hope you will expand this knowledge through discussions with me as a head teacher and other members of the staff and by taking advantage of parents' evenings. Remember also we are always available to discuss your needs.
We are happy to have your child in our school and are eager for him/her to feel happy and at home in our midst. We also wish your child to progress in the best possible way. Remember to contact the school immediately if your child, or you as a parent, are unhappy regarding any matter.
Welsh is the official language of the school and the main teaching medium. We try to instil in the children a respect for the language and culture of their country and to ensure that each child is fully bilingual by the time they are eleven.
A booklet gives you information about the school, its aims, the curriculum and other activities that take place within it. This information was correct at the time of publication and meets the requirements of the Welsh Office.
